Big steps towards sustainable mobility

The district of Böblingen is an attractive region and easy to reach. To keep it that way, the district administration has its sights firmly set on the mobility of the future.
The district of Böblingen is located in the Stuttgart innovation region and offers the people living here and the companies based here optimal transport connections. The towns and municipalities are well connected by road and rail - and the centrally located state capital Stuttgart is also within easy reach. In addition to road and rail transport, the good connections to the airport and inland ports are also crucial.

Integrated mobility concept

Anyone who lives here knows that attractive regions such as Heckengäu and Schönbuch offer many leisure activities that can be easily reached by bike. Cycle highways are therefore part of the integrated mobility concept developed by the Böblingen district administration. The catalog of measures comprises a total of 13 key projects that are intended to contribute to sustainable mobility. The first successes of the integrated mobility concept are already visible. The high-speed cycle link from Stuttgart to Herrenberg has now been completed as far as Böblingen/Sindelfingen and from Böblingen to Ehningen. In 2022, a further section of around 500 meters was added near Ehningen and a further 1.6 kilometers will follow by autumn 2023.

Expansion of high-speed cycle paths

The district is also examining other routes suitable for a high-speed cycle link: from Weil der Stadt to Leonberg and further into the district of Ludwigsburg as well as from Renningen to Holzgerlingen. The aim is to increase the proportion of bicycle traffic to 20 percent and thus reduce traffic-related emissions. Another advantage of expanding the cycle routes is that it improves the mobility of citizens without slowing down economic development.
