Get to know companies and professions at the company day

The FIRMENTAGE are appreciated by companies and students alike. Some gain detailed impressions of working life, while others get to know the specialists of tomorrow.
The idea is actually quite simple: employers from the district offer school pupils the opportunity to get to know the company and the training occupations offered there on a fixed day during the summer vacations. The companies enter their program and the school requirements for the FIRMENTAGE on the "PLANET71" website and those interested name their three favorite companies that they would like to visit. Matching then takes place on the website based on this prioritization. The FIRMENTAGE are a good opportunity to get a quick and uncomplicated impression of the industry and the company - and with a bit of luck to find the right company for a subsequent internship or even an apprenticeship.

The free offer from the Böblingen district's business development department is aimed at school pupils aged 14 and over who either live in the district or go to school here. Young people are given the opportunity to spend a day getting a taste of various specialist areas, from production or craft businesses to retail and IT companies. The program of the FIRMENTAGE is designed by the participating companies themselves, often following a presentation of the company with a tour of the company premises, the creation of their own workpiece by the young day visitors or the assumption of smaller typical tasks and finally a discussion with trainees about the training and study professions.

Addressing potential specialists at a young age

The Böblingen district's business development agency launched the campaign back in 2006 and cooperates with the towns of Böblingen, Herrenberg, Leonberg, Sindelfingen and the employment agency. At that time, the name was still "School Vacation Company Days". Since then, several thousand young participants and numerous companies have benefited from the company days. District Administrator Roland Bernhard also sees the campaign as an important measure against the shortage of skilled workers: "Companies are increasingly suffering from unfilled vacancies." In this way, they come together with young interested people and can get them excited about their own professional field and the company during the FIRMENTAGE. Students can find more information about the project on the website of PLANET71.
Young people can also create a free user account on the platform, upload their profile and create CVs. A strength test helps them to identify their own talents and discover suitable employers via matching in the provider pool and network directly with them. Another new feature is that severely disabled young people who attend special education and counseling centers (SBBZ) outside the district can also take part in the company days. Suitable events are marked separately on the student platform
